Con recursos del Fondo de Prosperidad Británico, por valor de 644.421 dólares, se suscribió un convenio entre la Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF) y la Gobernación del Atlántico para la estructuración del proyecto que permitirá la creación del primer Centro Agro-logístico del departamento_.

*_La creación del Centro de Valor Agregado permitirá aprovechar la capacidad de producción agropecuaria regional, para generar valor agregado y ofrecer productos de calidad para mercados nacionales e internacionales_.
La gobernadora del Atlántico, Elsa Noguera, recibió este martes al embajador (e) del Reino Unido, Tim Hemmings, país con el que se viene trabajando en los estudios de factibilidad y mercado del Centro de Valor Agregado del Atlántico, que estará ubicado en el municipio de Soledad.
“En la implementación de nuestra estrategia de impulsar y transformar el campo en el Atlántico, somos conscientes de la importancia de contar con un espacio que permita aumentar la competitividad del sector agropecuario. Y, para ello, hemos contado con el apoyo del Fondo de Prosperidad Británico, que a través de la Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF) destinó recursos a favor de la Gobernación para apoyar la estructuración de lo que será el Centro de Valor Agregado Agro-logístico del departamento. Hoy el embajador (e) Hemmings nos visitó y estuvimos conversando sobre el acompañamiento y apoyo que tendremos en la construcción del Centro, y acerca de fortalecer las relaciones entre la Embajada y el Atlántico”, resaltó la gobernadora del Atlántico, Elsa Noguera.
Para el departamento, contar con un centro de estas características es importante, ya que se podrá lograr la transformación de los productos agrícolas que se prioricen y el aprovechamiento de la materia prima. “Con esto, el Atlántico logrará completar el ciclo de la transformación agroindustrial que nos hemos propuesto: calidad, cantidad y continuidad para generar así mayor valor y utilidad para los agricultores”, agregó la mandataria.
El secretario de Desarrollo Económico, Luis Humberto Martínez, señaló que, para fortalecer la competitividad agrícola en el departamento y consolidar el programa ‘El Campo a Toda Marcha’, es primordial la creación de estrategias de desarrollo productivo. “Si ponemos el caso del limón, por ejemplo, se necesita que el producto tenga ciertas características para poder venderlo tanto en el mercado nacional como para exportación. A través de estos centros de transformación, como el Centro de Valor Agregado, se les puede dar un uso en diferentes aplicaciones: como zumo, fruta seca, raíces, cáscaras. Transformaciones que permitirán que aquellos productos que no son aptos para el consumo local o de exportación no se desechen, sino que tengan una segunda vida”, resaltó el funcionario.

Con este acompañamiento del gobierno británico, mediante la CAF, se podrá también gestionar el asocio entre los departamentos de la región para aprovechar la capacidad de producción agropecuaria regional, generar valor agregado y ofrecer productos de calidad a mercados nacionales e internacionales.
