La medida busca proteger a los consumidores de Barranquilla, previniendo abusos en los precios de los alimentos.
Los operativos también van encaminados al control del tráfico ilegal de la fauna silvestre y de la palma de cera.
Para garantizar los derechos de los consumidores, la Secretaría de Gobierno inició los operativos a expendedores de pescados y mariscos, verificando el cumplimiento de lo establecido en cuanto a los precios al público, así como el correcto funcionamiento de pesas y balanzas.
Sobre las acciones que se llevan a cabo en las cinco localidades de Barranquilla, la secretaria de Gobierno, Jeniffer Villarreal, dijo que “estos operativos serán liderados por los inspectores urbanos de Policía en coordinación con la Secretaría de Salud, Barranquilla Verde y la Personería” .
Además, explica que se realizan recorridos antes y durante la Semana Santa, donde se verifican restaurantes, supermercados, pescaderías y plazas públicas de mercado. Esto, con el propósito de velar por la protección de los consumidores de la ciudad, teniendo en cuenta que estas temporadas son susceptibles de abusos en los precios, calidad de los pescados y sus derivados.
La funcionaria agregó que con estas acciones también se busca evitar la especulación y el acaparamiento de estos productos por la demanda que representan en esta temporada; Ahora, la protección de la palma de cera y control del tráfico ilegal de fauna silvestre, esta última vigilada por el Establecimiento Público Ambiental – EPA- Barranquilla Verde.
Villarreal hizo un llamado a la ciudadanía a cuidar su salud adquiriendo productos en establecimientos que cumplan con las condiciones sanitarias requeridas.
Sanciones
La Secretaría de Gobierno dijo que las sanciones para los establecimientos que incumplan con la normatividad vigente van desde cierre del establecimiento hasta 180 días o multa por valor de 100 salarios mínimos mensuales legales vigentes, de acuerdo con los artículos 60 y 62 de la Ley 1480 de 2011.
Además, aquellos establecimientos que no cuenten con los requisitos para ejercer la actividad económica, de acuerdo con la Ley 1801 de 2011 (Código Nacional de Policía y Convivencia), podrán ser sancionados. En los casos donde no sean acatados los lineamientos en referencia a la talla y vedas de los pescados, en el evento que se decomisen, serán informados para realizar la respectiva donación.
