El mandatario distrital inspeccionó los trabajos que se ejecutan en Sredni y mercado del Río, dinamizadores de la recuperación del Centro Histórico.
El Centro Histórico de Barranquilla está más cerca de transformar la experiencia de sus visitantes con el proyecto de recuperación de este sector, liderado por la Administración distrital. A la vista saltan los avances del mercado Sredni, ubicado en la carrera 43 entre calles 38 y 39, espacio que permitirá dignificar la labor de los vendedores estacionarios.
El alcalde visitó la obra en compañía del secretario de Control Urbano y Espacio Público, Ángelo Cianci, y la gerente de Edubar, Angelly Criales.
“Nos vinimos al mercado Sredni, que está prácticamente listo para abrir sus puertas. En menos de un mes estaremos inaugurando y mudando cocinas, vendedores de discos y vendedores de diferente tipo de enseres, así que estamos muy contentos porque muy pronto estaremos gozando de estos espacios de calidad”, dijo el mandatario, quien además recordó que el Centro de la ciudad alberga miles de personas que han sacado adelante a sus familias asoleándose, mojándose, viendo perder sus productos y expuestos a la inclemencia de la calle, por lo que estos nuevos mercados representan una mejora en su condición de vida para seguir trabajando de manera digna.
“Hoy les estamos dando la oportunidad de que lleguen a un sitio, que se les otorgue un beneficio y que ellos lo retribuyan con una pequeña compensación mensual de administración y demás, pero que puedan sacar adelante a su familia de manera digna y eso, a su turno, le devuelve la movilidad al Centro de Barranquilla, su espacio público, y eso significa que poco a poco estos comercios y residencia volverán a llenarse y el Centro renacerá”, destacó.
Mercado del Río
Con la majestuosidad del río Magdalena de fondo, pronto 486 vendedores estacionarios del Centro de Barranquilla serán reubicados en la primera etapa del mercado del Río, el nuevo espacio que les brindará mejores condiciones, al tiempo que fortalecerá la organización del comercio y la recuperación del espacio público.
Los trabajos de cimentación y estructuras de concreto se encuentran ejecutadas en un 100 %, mientras que las actividades de estructura metálica están en un 70 % de la ejecución; a su vez se está trabajando en la instalación de las cubiertas.
“Hicimos un recorrido por el mercado del Río, que va a quedar en la isla de La Loma, un mercado que eventualmente podrá albergar hasta 800 vendedores estacionarios y algunos puntos anclas de comercio, al lado del caño y del río Magdalena, un punto inigualable para nuestros vendedores, que van a despejar una buena parte del Centro”, explicó el alcalde Pumarejo.
El alcalde finalizó su visita señalando que, en agregado, se están mudando más de 1.000 vendedores estacionarios del Centro. “Vamos a abrir dos grandes mercados: el del Río y Gran Bazar, que van a despejar una buena parte de Barranquillita, luego con mercados como Sredni y Barlovento, y otros pequeños que hemos hecho y estamos haciendo, vamos a ponerle la cereza al pastel y seguir dinamizando este espacio tan importante de Barranquilla”, indicó.
Detalles de los mercados
El mercado del Río se ejecuta en un área de 10.700 metros cuadrados, tiene un área cubierta de 4.768 metros cuadrados. En detalle tendrá locales comerciales, unidades sanitarias, urbanismo, senderos peatonales, zonas verdes y parqueaderos.
Por su parte, el mercado Sredni ya presenta un 97 % de ejecución en la obra y está en la etapa de acabados y urbanismo. Este proyecto contempla 154 puntos de comercio, incluyendo 11 coc
inas; además tendrá baños.
